Politics of ATAR & Evidence in Teacher Education

Welcome to the third VCDE conference

The 2016 VCDE conference is a forum for Teacher Educators in Victoria to discuss the requirements for selection and the provision of evidence of impact of programs for course accreditation.

The morning session will be led by Associate Professor David Geelan from Griffith University and Dr Josephine Lang from Deakin University.  The presentations will focus on the issues and challenges associated with collating evidence of impact.  The follow up discussions will consider how we might frame a response to this requirement that can be supported across the sector.

The afternoon session will be led by Professor Richard James from the University of Melbourne.  The presentation will provide a review of the pathways of entrants into education courses and consideration of suitable criteria to assess academic capability and non-academic suitability. The discussion panel will include representatives from the Victorian Department of Education and Training, Victorian Institute of Teaching and the selection working party from the Victorian Vice Chancellor’s Committee.
